Size: 11′ x 16′ 6″
Hand woven in Iran
Tabriz saffron field and light green border with all over geometric floral design
Includes the rug’s horse hair rug pad

Appraised at $9500 suggested retail value.
Woven c. 1990s. Only used c. 5 years.

100% wool pile on a cotton foundation.
Wool is hand carted and spun. Carpet is hand woven.
Dyes are natural.
Carpet has 200 asymmetrical knots per square inch.

The condition is excellent; however, there is 3″ on one of the salvage sides that needs to be professionally repaired.

Tabriz is a city in NW Iran and the capital of Azerbaijan. Carpets may have been woven from the fifteenth century. Forming great export trade, Tabriz was the market center for rugs beginning in the mid-nineteenth century.

This rug was part of the inventory of a Middle Eastern rug merchant, who passed away and left his rugs to his two children who lived in the United States and sold the remaining rugs. This rug was only purchased about 5 years, has been well cared for, and is only being sold because the donor moved to a smaller house. It has been donated for the proceeds to benefit a school.

Beautiful and rare kashmir silk double sided persain rug. Bought this in Iraq. The dealer said it was made in Iran, but there is nothing to varify that. I personally think it was made in India. Has a tribal theme to it with an elephant foot design on one side, and the four seasons design on the other. The knot density is very high at approx. 900 kpsi. There is a slight discoloration on the elephant foot side (circled on image number six), that I did not notice until after I bought it. It’s not very noticable, and doesn’t ditract from the beauty of the rug. It does not bleed through to the other side. The rug really speaks for itself. Enjoy the pictures!

This week an amazing assortment of unusual and large palace carpets popped onto the scene.

4. An gigantic antique palace size Feraghan measuring an astounding 12′ x 36′. A carpet of this size and dimension is only fit for a Palace. Literally. This carpet would be perfect for a period style home, especially given the condition and very unusual size.

3. It doesn’t matter if you’re in New York, Texas, California or somewhere in between. Pink. Is. Back. This is an unbelievably large mid century Persian Kerman of very high craftsmanship. Large open light rose/pink field with a gorgeous medallion. 15′ x 27′

2. Classic motif, timeless colors and high quality luxury. Did we mention it’s big. Very big. Measuring an astounding 16′ x 25′ this amazing palace size bokhara carpet is one of the best and biggest examples of a gul style rug we’ve seen for a while.

1. When it comes to Palace size Persian rugs – there are few to compare with this piece.
